 Colleen Kelly Beaman 

Today, Colleen is the standard bearer of the Kelly dancing tradition and her talents as an instructor are widely sought out. She teaches dance classes to young and old alike throughout the Tucson area and across the United States and Canada: New York, Pittsburgh, Dallas and Toronto. Colleen has performed and choreographed extensively over the years. She choreographed for the senior women's tap dancing group "Hot Flashes," was appointed Adjunct Professor at Pima Community College (Tucson) in 1999, and has served on the Young Audiences of Southern Arizona Advisory Board. Colleen has been widely acknowledged for her contribution to the art of dancing. In 2001                             paid tribute to her in Dallas, Texas for her lifetime dedication to the art of tap dancing.

 

When she is not teaching dancing, Colleen devotes much of her energy to community and social activities. She has served as chairperson to Tucson’s Celiac Walk in support of the Celiac Foundation. To read about Celiac disease 

 

Colleen is also chairperson of the Tucson-Roscommon Sister Cities, an organization committed to fostering close bonds between the communities of Tucson and Roscommon, Ireland. Colleen is extremely proud to be a descendant of the aristocratic Kelly Clan that, in ancient times, ruled Ui Maine, a territory in western Ireland including Roscommon. Colleen is married to Jim Beaman, a Tucson attorney. They have four children.

 YVONNE LOVELL 

Yvonne began her ballet, tap and jazz training in London. Trained in the Royal Academy style of classical ballet, she took all the required grade level examinations to become a member at age 16. At the same time she became a member of The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and later The British Association of Teachers of Dancing and Dance Educators of America. As a pre-teen Yvonne continued her education at a theatrical school in London and also studied tap with Jack Billings. Beginning her professional career at age 12, she has experience in modeling, live theater and television. She spent two summer seasons in Shakespeare In The Park at Regents Park in London.

 

Once in America Yvonne opened her own dance studio in Mesquite, Texas, which she ran for almost 34 years before finally retiring in December 2013. She also found time to teach at Cedar Valley College in Lancaster, TX. In 2005 she taught a workshop in Tucson, AZ with Colleen Kelly Beaman and television  

producer Michael Kelly. She received a scholarship from the Dallas Dance Council to attend a four day workshop in Phoenix AZ, in 2009, and in 2012 The Dance Council honored her with the Larry White Award for teaching excellence.

 

Yvonne has attended Master Classes and workshops with many well known dancers including Fred Kelly, Honey Coles, Gregory Hines and Jacques d'Amboise. In Dallas she studied and performed with Buster Cooper. While tap is her first love, ballet is a strong point. She also teaches musical theater, liturgical and has a soft spot for preschoolers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Yvonne has served as past Vice President of The Dance Council of North Texas and is still active with that organization.  She was also very involved with Dallas National Tap Dance Day Celebration planning committee for many years. Yvonne is married to Robert Lovell and they have three adult children. They make their home on 19 acres east of Dallas. Colleen and Yvonne are looking forward to traveling, teaching and lecturing together.
